Salt Lake and Such

Went up to Salt Lake... Last week...-ish? BFFL!Madison was looking at The Art Institute up there as a possible college (nice school, by the way). We spent the morning at the college getting oriented and the rest of our time in good ol' Salt Lake. This was my first time in good ol' Salt Lake, and I must say, I really enjoyed it.

A few things happened:

-Madison tried sushi. She liked it at first, then she tried it again.

Madison still does not like sushi.

-We went to many thrift stores, I got a pair of jeans, a Friends trivia game for my mom, and a novelization of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.

-"Mini" makes cupcakes which make you happy:
This one was mine.

It was very crunchy. And this "Mini" was right, the two minutes I spent eating that cupcake were some very happy minutes.

-Went to Gardener Village, which was apparently (and obviously) a small village that is now a group of different shops. Everything was very overpriced. One of the stores was a magical fantasy/magic/awesome shop that was incensed to high heaven.

-Saw the Salt Lake City temple. It doesn't seem so big up close.

-Had dinner at a waffle place called Red Rooster. My waffle was topped with bananas, caramel sauce, and whipped cream.

It was pretty freaking amazing.

Madison's waffle had turkey on it.

It was not as awesome.

-Hiked up to the Timpanogas Cave. Hike was a pain in the ass. The cave was awesome. Our tour guide was cute.

-Went to a ginourmous hunting store called Cabella's. It was like the Costco of hunting stores.

In other news, being a senior is awesome. All of my classes are really quite easy and a lot of fun.

-In Ceramics I just finished a coil pot that I'm quite proud of.

-I have discovered a new love for drawing thanks to my Drawing class.

-In English all we do is read

-Chemistry is so much easier than Physics ever was

-I made a bookmark in Desktop Publishing. It's Doctor Who themed. I'm so 'cited to use it!

-In Multimedia II, I am currently finishing up on a project in Adobe Flash that involves that "Hamster Dance" song and Doctor Who. It's the weirdest thing ever, but it never fails to amuse me

-French III is so boring...

-Cooking is awesome.

One year older...

Ah, 17, it's finally here. Mind you, it's no different from yesterday or the day before that. But still...

I have overdosed on birthday cake, didn't bother counting points today, but will have to get back in the grind tomorrow.

In other news, Pandora is trying to catch the words on the screen.

It's so cute!

This year I received:

-A new guitar and guitar accessories
-A cat
-A coloring book and some colored pencils
-A CD
-Some clothes

We went out to eat at Red Lobster, I got a lovely platter of deep-fried seafood. It's in my fridge in a box waiting to be finished.

It was definitely a good birthday.

I'm Not Dead

Internet went away for a little while, excuse the absence.

Two things happened.

I got a cat as a birthday present from BFF!Madison before she went away on her California adventure:
Her name is Pandora (which is very fitting, by the way). She's sooo cute! Except, when I'm trying to sleep, she likes to try to bite my nose off.

I'm not sure why.

Apparently Madison thought I'd be a good owner of a pet after my last pet killed itself.

Second item of business, I got a new guitar for my birthday:

It's an acoustic-electric Takamine something-or-other. Overall, I love it, it plays very well plugged and un-plugged.

This brings the number of guitars I own to three. However, the total number of guitars I have in my room at this moment is seven.

I'm borrowing most of these. And no, you can never have too many guitars. When I get my own place, I will collect guitars and they will hang all over my walls. I will be the crazy guitar woman.

That is all for today.

:D

So... Hot...

St. George is finally exhibiting that painfully hot, dry weather. It's very hot.

Well... It's only 95°, but still.

Listening to Death Cab For Cutie now. Discovered them through Pandora Radio, and through "I Will Follow You Into The Dark." (Gotta love those really popular songs.) The album is Plans. It gets my thumbs-up.

In other news, spent yesterday evening with BFF!Madison and her boyfriend Trevor. He has a really old orange truck with a passenger side seat belt that hardly passes as a seat belt. I spent most of the time clinging to the seat.

We went to this new organic grocery store to get organic pizza makings. It was (organically) orgasmic. I must make it sometime.

Then Madison and I played Call of Duty.

I'm not very good.

At all.

Boredom

Listening to The Postal Service after having acquired their album Give Up. Their music makes me want to have a very nice loft that is bright and filled with white furniture with red pillows. And in this loft, Indie music will play non-stop, I will write many novels and write lots of music, and have a nice young man at my beck and call.

Hey, a girl can dream.

Summer gives me too much time. I never do anything productive with this time.

In other news...

Hmm, I have no Other News.

Damn Writer's Block...

Suicidal Fish

Fishie, sadly, is no longer with us.

You may remember Fishie from my last couple of posts. As a refresher, she was an Apology Fish from my BFF!Madison after a fight, then Fishie had babies, and then Fishie ate those babies.

Now, Fishie was a spaz, a little on the strange side. Always flitting around the bowl like a mental patient in a padded room.

So, yesterday morning, Madison and I discovered that Fishie... was no longer... in her... bowl...

o_O

She was, instead, lying in my windowsill. Dead. And covered in dust.

We figure that sometime during the night Fishie jumped out of the bowl. Either that or my Super Fan knocked her out of the water.

We said a few nice things and flushed Fishie into the Great Beyond.

Goodbye Fishie, you will be sorely missed.

In other news, I had some of the weirdest, funky-ass dreams last night. I won't go into details, but it was weird. Like, "what the hell" weird.

*Shudder*

Murdering Fish Mothers and Doctor Who

The fishlets are no more.

Fishie took it upon herself to eat her four youngsters the other day. BFF!Madison is quite upset, she keeps yelling at Fishie.

I figured something like that would've happened. I'm not upset, but now Madison wants to go buy another pregnant fish.

I declined.

I think Madison is now accidentally-on-purpose trying to kill Fishie. I don't really blame her, but I don't condone the behavior.

In other news, I finally got my hands on some Classic Doctor Who (at Barnes & Noble. Didn't even think to check with them at first. Silly me.)

I've been watching the new series (David Tennant= <3), and was curious about the older stuff.

After a phone conversation I had with my father about a week ago, who used to watch the older stuff, he suggested I start with the Tom Baker years. He warned me that the SFX were quite bad, but that the rest of it was good.

He was right.

But I enjoyed it quite a bit. I will definitely be going back for more.

On a completely unrelated note, Madison created a crazy cat lady on the Sims the other day. One single female. Six, now five, crazy cats.

I made her give one of them up for adoption. Then I suggested she make a male sim.

Oh that poor, computer-generated woman.

Fishie and Fishlets

So a few weeks ago, my BFF!Madison bought me an Apology Fish after a fight we had. Shortly after, I started noticing that the fish, whom I call Fishie, was getting a little... fat. Last night, or somewhere around that time frame, Fishie gave birth to four little fishlets.

I've never had a fish before (*collective gasp is heard 'round the audience*), and now I have five of them.

I'm a grandma!

In other news, the fake nails are gone. I will most likely put nails back on after a week or so.

I want to eat forever!!!

Grr...

For Madison

His name is Vitas, he's a Russian pop singer, and he has a range that I would die for.

My best friend is in love him (this song mostly).

In other news, two posts in one day. Yeesh.

Also, recording an "album" (or re-recording, rather). Getting upset.

I hate you, vocal cords.

Sims and Such

I seem to have a very strange obsession/fascination with the computer game The Sims 2. Perhaps it's the fact that you get to play God to digital characters that can't do anything for themselves, or maybe it's because you can fill it with a bunch of custom content and go crazy. Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that you can act out really weird fantasies you may have with these characters you create...

Either way, it's a really fun game. And only in Sim!World can two characters meet on a Monday, fall in love by Wednesday, and get engaged on Friday (or was it Saturday...?)

True story.

In other news, my brother seems to be under the impression that my best friend and I are engaging in some kind of lesbian love affair.

Okay, one, she's got a boyfriend. Whom she loves very much. And he would be very pissed off at us (mostly me).

I really don't want to piss that boy off.

Two, I don't swing that way.

Three, she's like a sister to me. It'd be weird.

Just...

No.

I don't think I will ever understand the brain of teenage boys.

DUUUUUN-DUNUHNUHNUH-NUUUUUUHHHH

Fear him, he is fierce. And so damn adorable

Watched a thing on the making of the Phantom of the Opera last night on Ovation TV. It was very good, very insightful.

It's been so long since I've listened to that musical that I had forgotten how good it was. I shall have to listen to it later.

In other news, I'm wearing fake nails for the first time in my life. It's different, it makes opening packages a bit hard, but it makes fingerpicking on the guitar a whole lot easier. Plus, if I get attacked, I will be able to scratch and flail my way out of it.

You Is

I have relied on Microsoft Word's grammar suggestions several times to help me with the small mistakes I make.

This however, was not one of those times.

I have no idea what my computer may have been thinking when it told me that you is was a replacement for you're. There is not a place in the English language where that is ever acceptable.

I think my copy of Word is going all urban on me. Is it going to start telling me I should end my sentences with prepositions and suggest that some character went and seen a movie and boughten some popcorn?

What the hell, Microsoft?

In other news, St. George is exhibiting some not-so St. George-y weather. It is overcast and quite pleasant. This is not the dry, painfully hot weather I have come to know and love in a strange, masochistic way.

First Post

Ah... the first post.

I'm doing this blog because my friend started a blog, and I am a sheep (*baaaah*). But she's going off to Cali this summer and in my little head, I figured it would be a good way for us to keep in touch (besides texting and whatnot).

Hey, it's easier than vlogging.

I also seem to be under the impression that people who stumble across it will like it too.

I figure it won't be too long before I start Twittering...
